Vintage Korean Red Lacquer and Mother of Pearl Wedding Chest. Inlaid with Real Abalone Mother of Pearl. Has two side handles and a locking latch in front. measures 24 inches wide, 12 inches deep, and 12-1/2 inches tall. Imported from Korea. Newer Mother of Pearl pieces are made from artificial Mother of Pearl which is very shiny and bright. Real Mother of Pearl has a dull appearance, and cannot be imported to the United States any more. The Republic of Korea is also limiting exports of vintage and antique Mother of Pearl items from South Korea.
