Korean Mother of Pearl and Black Lacquer Wedding Chest. Inlaid with Real Abalone Mother of Pearl. Has three small drawers on top, and two cabinet doors in the center. Measures 25-1/4 inches wide, 15-1/4 inches deep, and 20-3/4 inches tall. Imported from Korea. Newer Mother of Pearl pieces are made from artificial Mother of Pearl which is very shiny and bright. Real Mother of Pearl has a dull appearance, and cannot be imported to the United States any more. The Republic of Korea is also limiting exports of vintage and antique Mother of Pearl items from South Korea.
